Borger High School Graduation Update - May 26, 2020

Borger High School Graduation
Bulldog Stadium
June 19, 2020 at 8:00 p.m.

Parents and Guardians,

BISD and BHS are happy to have a graduation ceremony honoring your senior.  To make this once in a lifetime event happen, we must follow CDC Guidelines to keep our students and their families safe.

We will be utilizing both sides of Bulldog Stadium so students can have 5 tickets each for family members to attend.  Graduating seniors will not need a ticket so they may give all five tickets to family members.

The stadium will be marked to comply with CDC Guidelines.  Each senior’s family members will be seated together but will be 6 feet apart from the next family of five.  Students will draw for the area where their family will be seated and the tickets they receive will correspond to that area in the stadium.

Students will be given a Covid-19 form with their tickets for their family members attending the graduation ceremony.  The screening form must be signed and returned to school officials at the gate when attendees arrive for the ceremony.   In addition, everyone must have a ticket to enter the stadium for graduation.  Tickets will be marked making it easy for families to find their assigned seats and the process to enter the stadium will be designed to limit long lines and keep attendees 6 feet apart.

We look forward to seeing you and honoring your child.  This group of seniors has blessed us, and they will always be remembered for their strength and resilience during this difficult time.  We want them to know that they are loved and that they will be missed.  Once a Bulldog, always a Bulldog!

Borger High School Graduation Update - May 12, 2020

Borger ISD and BHS are excited to announce that we will be having graduation at Bulldog Stadium on June 19th at 8:00 barring any new orders by the Governor due to COVID-19.  Because we are proceeding with our outdoor graduation ceremony for our seniors, we will limit our virtual graduation to eliminate unnecessary exposure by using pictures that we currently have to produce our tribute to seniors.  The online graduation tribute will be released on May 29th.

In keeping with tradition, seniors last day of instruction will be May 22nd.  Senior graduation packets will be handed out in front of Borger High School on May 18th and May 19th.  When picking up packets, students will remain in their car and pick up packets from staff members at curbside.  Seniors with last names beginning with A - L will pick up graduation packets on the May 18th from 10:00 to 12:00 and seniors with last names beginning with M - Z will pick up graduation packets on May 19th from 10:00 to 12:00.  These packets will include graduation instructions, Boomtown Scholarship Information, and any stoles and/or cords that students have earned for graduation.

Borger High School Graduation Information

BISD and BHS Administrators would like to honor graduates with a traditional graduation ceremony at Bulldog Stadium.  In order to provide the best opportunity to do this in a safe environment and stay in compliance with CDC regulations, BISD will be postponing graduation until June 19th and will hold prom on June 13th.  These two events will take place on these dates if the social distancing orders have been lifted.  If the orders remain in place on June 19th, graduation will then take place on July 24th with the prom being held on July 18th.  BISD is releasing these dates early so our seniors and their parents can plan accordingly.

A virtual graduation ceremony will also take place and include BHS seniors in their cap and gowns.  This ceremony will be available to view on May 29th along with our traditional candlelight ceremony video featuring our seniors.  Additional details about the virtual graduation and the schedule for seniors to film their part of the graduation video with cap and gowns will be released next week.

BISD plans on honoring all 181 seniors by featuring each one on the large electronic sign located on Wilson Street by Subway.  A schedule of when each senior will be able to view their picture is at the following link: https://bit.ly/3d403VF. In addition, a banner will hang on Main Street honoring the Borger High School Class of 2020.  BISD will notify seniors once the banner has been hung.

GPA and ranking will be calculated from the final transcript grades for the 2019 Fall Semester and through the 4th six weeks of the 2020 Spring Semester which was finalized prior to the Covid-19 school closure.  Students will need to complete all courses in their graduation plan to receive credit and graduate, but grades earned in the 5th and 6th weeks through distance learning will not count toward class rank or GPA.

Parents of students earning Top Ten academic honors will receive phone calls from BHS administrators on 4-27-20 related to this years’ virtual academic banquet.  Staying with tradition, seniors earning a spot in the Top Ten will select a teacher to honor and film a 1 to 2-minute video about that teacher. The video will also feature the Top Ten honorees from the 9th, 10th, and 11th grade classes.  BHS Valedictorian and Salutatorian will be announced on Friday, May 1st. More details will be provided to parents during the phone calls.

BISD and BHS Administrators would like our seniors to know that they are loved and will not be forgotten.  We will work tirelessly to ensure that our seniors are not only honored but also celebrated.
